Gender and Monitoring and Evaluation


Join the workshop, "Gender-Responsive and Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E)" which takes place on 30 November 2023 at 15:30h CEST.


Aim: This dynamic workshop is designed to equip participants with the essential knowledge and practical skills to conduct M&E activities through a gender-sensitive lens.


Overview of curriculum:


Back to Basics: Introduction to Gender Concepts and Theories

  • Understanding the social construction of gender.

  • Recognizing the difference between sex and gender.

  • Definitions of concepts (gender roles, gender norms, gender audit, gender analysis etc.)

  • Exploring intersectionality and how different identities (e.g., race, ethnicity, class) intersect with gender.

Gender Mainstreaming

  • Integrating gender perspectives into all stages of programme development and evaluation.

  • Analyzing how gender intersects with other social determinants of well-being.

Gender Analysis, Gender Budgeting and Frameworks

  • Using tools like the Gender Analysis Matrix to understand the gender dimensions of a programme.

  • Analysis of budgets to assess how they impact different genders. This includes examining revenue, expenditure, and allocation of resources.

Gender-senstive Indicators and M&E

  • Identifying indicators that capture changes in gender dynamics, women’s empowerment, and gender equality.

  • Ensuring gender-disaggregated data is collected and analyzed.

  • Methods for collecting sensitive gender-related information.

  • Gender-responsive evaluation methods.

Target Audience: Individuals and organizations committed to advancing gender equality and social inclusion will find immense value in this workshop. Whether you're involved in NGOs, government agencies, academia, or private sector initiatives, this workshop offers crucial insights and practical skills to ensure Monitoring and Evaluations (M&E) are conducted through a gender-sensitive lens. You don't need formal training as a M&E practitioner to be part of this workshop.


Duration: 90 minutes


Recording: As persons are in different time zones, the time of the workshop may not be convenient for everyone. Therefore, the workshop will be recorded and available in the M&E Academy section of this website for persons to (re) watch at their convenience. By attending the workshop you give your consent for the recording.
