Webinar on Crafting Impactful Technical Reports

Flawless methodology means little without masterful communication. Even the most groundbreaking report fails to create change if the findings fall flat.

This webinar equips technical experts into persuasive storytellers who make data dance and text sing.

You will learn how to bring reports to life by integrating striking visuals like infographics. You will get hands-on experience using visualisation software to demystify data for non-technical stakeholders.

You don't need a background in communications nor any formal report writing training to join this webinar. If you write reports and need tips on how to make them more engaging, you will benefit from this session.

By the end of this webinar, participants will:

1. Understand best practices for creating engaging and user-friendly reports.

2. Learn to use visualisation and storytelling to enhance the accessibility and impact of the report (including Theories of Change).

4. Explore practical AI tools and software for designing reports (including demonstrations of software).

Agenda

1. Welcome and Introduction (5 minutes)

   • Icebreaker: Quick poll on current challenges in creating evaluation products.

2. Why Reports Fail to Resonate (15 minutes)

   • Common pitfalls: Poor stakeholder alignment, jargon overload, and lack of visual appeal.

3. Crafting Effective Reports (15 minutes)

   • Understanding your audience: Stakeholder mapping and tailoring outputs.

   • Best practices for writing: Clear, concise, and inclusive language.

   • Visual storytelling: Structuring reports and using visuals to tell a story.

   • Bringing the gender lens to reports

   • Examples of effective outputs: Infographics, executive summaries, and creative products.

4. Software Demonstration (40 minutes)

   • Canva : Designing accessible infographics.

   • Venngage: Crafting visually compelling reports, and Theory of Change Visualisations

   • AI tools ChatGPT and Napkin

   • Hands-on activity: Participants follow along with a simple infographic creation task.

5. Interactive Q&A and Wrap-Up (15 minutes)

   • Addressing participant questions on implementing the techniques and tools.

   • Summary of key takeaways.

   • Invitation to explore additional resources in the M&E Academy.
