Your MEL System Isn't Broken.
It's Just Disconnected.
And that's costing you credibility, time, and sleep.

You have a Theory of Change, somewhere. A MEL Framework in a folder.
Indicators you update quarterly because you're supposed to. Reports that take days to write and minutes to skim.
You're doing Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL). But it doesn't feel like it's working.
Not because you're bad at this. But because no one ever showed you how to make all the pieces work together.
Here's What Usually Happens
You inherited a project mid-stream. Or pieced together a MEL system from three different workshops and a donor template. Or you built something that made sense at the time, but now, 18 months in, you're not sure it's actually measuring what matters. Or you may be the person that was brought in to make sense of it all.
And now you're facing:
→ Reporting season - and you're dreading it because your evidence feels thin
→ Donor questions - "So what changed?" and you freeze because your data doesn't tell that story
→ Stakeholder skepticism - your team doesn't trust the MEL system, so they see it as compliance, not learning
→ Imposter syndrome - wondering if everyone else has this figured out and you're the only one struggling
You're not alone. And you're not failing. But your system may not be defensible
Your MEL system just needs an expert to look under the hood and tell you exactly what to fix.
What a MEL System Audit Actually Does
Think of it like a health check for your monitoring and evaluation infrastructure.
I review key documents...your Theory of Change, Results Chain, MEL Framework, indicators, data collection methods, reports, and tell you:
✅ What's working (so you stop second-guessing the things you're doing right)
✅ What's broken (the specific gaps, disconnects, and weak links undermining your evidence)
✅ What to fix first (because you can't do everything at once, and some changes have more impact than others)
✅ How to fix it (concrete, step-by-step recommendations you can actually implement independently)
This isn't generic advice. This is a customised roadmap for YOUR MEL system.
Only two (2) audit slots available per month. I limit these so I can give each audit the attention it deserves. Once these 2 slots are filled, the waitlist opens. You may join the waitlist to be notified when the next slots become available. February 2026 slots are currently open.
Here's What You Get
The audit spans approximately 10 working days end-to-end, and incudes the following:
At the Beginning of the Audit:
You complete an intake form and send me a maximum of five (5) MEL documents—Theory of Change, Logframe, MEL Framework, indicator tracking sheets, annual/progress reports, (selected by you from the categories listed above)
I review the documents thoroughly before we meet.
During the Audit (90-Minute Live Session):
We go deep. I walk you through:
-
Theory of Change / Logframe Analysis - Where's your logic weak? Which assumptions are untested? What's missing?
-
Indicator Review - Which indicators are actually useful vs. vanity metrics? What are you NOT measuring that you should be?
-
Data Collection Assessment - Are you over-collecting in some areas and under-collecting in others? Is your data quality good enough to defend?
-
Integration Check - Does your ToC actually connect to your MEL Framework? Are you measuring what your theory says matters?
-
Communication Diagnosis - Why aren't your reports landing? What story is your evidence trying to tell (and failing to)?
This is a working session. You can ask questions, push back, and clarify in real-time.This session is diagnostic, not consultative as the goal is clarity, not redesign.
After the Audit:
After the Zoom call, you receive a detailed written audit report (10-15 pages) that includes:
📋 Executive Summary - The 3-5 most critical findings/areas you need to address
📋 Theory of Change/Log frame Analysis - Specific gaps in your causal logic and how to strengthen it
📋 Indicator Review - A section showing which indicators to keep, which to drop, which to redesign
📋 Data Strategy Recommendations - Where to focus your data collection efforts (and where to stop wasting time)
📋 An Action Plan - Prioritised steps to strengthen your MEL system, sequenced for maximum impact
The MEL System Audit is a fixed-scope diagnostic engagement and does not include implementation, document editing, ongoing support, or bespoke consultancy beyond the stated deliverables.
Who This Is For
This audit is for you if:
✓ You've built a MEL system but it feels disconnected as pieces don't talk to each other
✓ You're preparing for a donor evaluation or mid-term review and need expert validation
✓ You inherited someone else's MEL system and suspect it's not fit for purpose
✓ Your reports take forever to write but don't seem to convince anyone
✓ You're a consultant who needs an extra set of eyes do you can have credible, defensible MEL before presenting to a client
✓ You're smart, capable, and experienced, but you want an indepedent review of your work before it's too late
Who This Is NOT For
This audit is NOT for you if:
✗ You don't have a MEL system yet (you need to build one first—consider the Clarity-to-Impact® Programmme)
✗ You're looking for someone to build your MEL system for you (this is diagnostic, not done-for-you consulting)
✗ You want validation, not honest feedback (I will tell you what's broken, even if it's uncomfortable)
✗ You're not ready to act on recommendations (the audit gives you the roadmap; implementation is on you)
Why This Works (When Generic MEL Training Doesn't)
Most MEL training teaches you methods in isolation:
"Here's how to write a Theory of Change."
"Here's how to develop indicators."
"Here's how to collect stories of change."
But nobody teaches you how to make them work together as a system.
That's the gap this audit fills.
I don't just tell you "your ToC needs work." I tell you:
-
Which specific assumptions are untested (and how to test them)
-
Which parts of your logic are disconnected from your indicators (and how to fix that)
-
Why your data collection isn't generating useful evidence (and what to measure instead)
-
How to reorganise your MEL Framework so it actually guides decisions, not just compliance
This is the integration work that transforms scattered tools into a functioning system.
When this Audit is Most Useful
-
Before a donor review or evaluation
-
When inheriting or handing over a programme
-
When reporting is consuming time but not building confidence
-
When the Board or Supervisory body asks, “Are we confident in this?”
What People Say
"I've done five different MEL trainings over the years and collected templates from all of them. Ann's audit was the first time someone looked at MY actual work and told me exactly what was wrong and how to fix it. Within 3 months, our MEL system went from 'thing we have to do' to 'thing that actually helps us make decisions.'"
— MEL Manager, International Development NGO. These outcomes were achieved because they were implemented by the organisation.
"I was preparing for a donor evaluation and panicking because I knew our MEL system had gaps but didn't know where to start. The audit gave me a clear roadmap. I fixed the most critical issues in 6 weeks. The evaluation went well as the donor actually complimented our MEL approach."
— Programme Coordinator, Education NGO
"Worth every euro. I thought I needed to rebuild everything. Ann showed me that 60% of my system was fine. I just needed to fix three specific disconnects. Saved me months of work."
— Independent MEL Consultant

Frequently Asked Questions
"Can't I just join the Clarity-to-Impact® Programmme instead?"
Great question. Here's the difference:
CTI is a 6-month programme where you build a complete MEL system from scratch alongside a cohort, with live sessions, peer review, and structured learning.
The Audit is for people who already have a MEL system but need expert diagnosis and a roadmap to fix it fast.
Choose CTI if: You're starting from scratch or want to rebuild your entire MEL approach with community support and structured learning.
Choose the Audit if: You have a MEL system in place, need expert validation, and want specific fixes you can implement immediately.
(And yes, audit clients often join CTI later when they realise they want the full transformation.)
"What if my MEL system is a complete disaster?"
Then you'll know exactly what to do about it.
I've seen MEL systems held together with duct tape and hope. I've seen Theories of Change that made no causal sense. I've seen indicator frameworks measuring everything except what mattered.
The audit doesn't judge. It diagnoses.
You'll walk away knowing:
-
What's salvageable (usually more than you think)
-
What needs to be rebuilt (usually less than you fear)
-
Where to start (the highest-impact fixes first)
No shame. No judgment. Just clarity.
"What if I don't have time to implement the recommendations?"
The Action Plan prioritises fixes by impact and effort.
You don't have to do everything. Even fixing 2-3 critical disconnects can transform your MEL system from "barely functional" to "actually useful."
And if you realise you need more support implementing? That's what the Clarity-to-Impact™ Programme or follow-up coaching is for.
"Is this confidential?"
Yes. Everything you share is confidential. I won't use your organisation's name, share your documents, or discuss your work without explicit permission.
(Though if you want me to anonymise and use your audit as a teaching example in CTI, I'm happy to, and I'll give you a discount for that.)
What Happens Next
Step 1: Click the button below to pay.
Step 2: You will receive an intake form via email. I'll ask about your MEL system, what's not working, and what you're hoping to fix.
Step 3: I'll review your form.
Step 4: You'll send me a maximum of five (5) of your MEL documents (Theory of Change, MEL Framework, indicators, reports, etc.). Don't worry if they're messy, that's why you're here.
Step 5: We'll schedule the 90-minute audit session at a time that works for you.
Step 6: Within 7 days after our session, you'll receive your detailed audit report with the Action Plan.
Step 7: You implement.
Two Ways This Goes
Option 1: You keep doing what you're doing.
You keep wondering if your MEL system is good enough. You keep second-guessing your indicators, your ToC, your reports. You keep feeling defensive when donors ask "so what changed?" because your evidence doesn't tell a clear story.
And in six months, you'll still be in the same place, except now you'll have wasted six more months collecting data that doesn't lead anywhere useful.
Option 2: You get expert eyes on your system now.
You find out exactly what's broken, what's working, and what to fix first. You get a roadmap you can actually follow. And in 90 days, your MEL system goes from "thing I'm anxious about" to "thing I can defend with confidence."
The choice is yours.
However, your MEL system isn't going to fix itself.
And the longer you wait, the more data you'll collect that doesn't tell the story you need it to tell.
