Where Can I Find Gender, Social Inclusion and Environmental Sustainability Indicators?

Updated: Oct 7, 2023

As development practitioners and Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) specialists we will definitely encounter a logframe, a results framework and/or a Theory of Change during the course of our career or practice. Likewise we will be asked to either develop, review or refine indicators.

Irrespective of the thematic area or sector of the intervention or programme, it is a good practice to always incorporate indicators that relate to gender, social inclusion and environmental sustainability.

But where can I find these indicators if I am not an expert in any of the above isssues?

Well, there are standard indicators that can be used. Below I give examples of a few sources for standard indicators.

This toolkit on Gender Equality (see image below) can be accessed via a search on Google.

👉 Gives a menu of gender equality indicators that may be selected or adapted for use

👉 Covers several sectors: health, education, transport, water supply and sanitation etc.

👉 Has indicators for country and sector level as well as at the prgramme and project level.

Indikit is an online platform that also gives examples of standard indicators that may be used (see the screenshot below for the web page address).

There is also the Bond Impact Builder (see the screenshot below for the web page address) that will give a database of indicators. Once you viist the website you can download the Excel sheet with the indicators.

There you have it. Three sources for standard indicators related to gender, social inclusion and enviornmental sustainability.
